My name is Naji, and I am the founder of AskMeMath.  I love making math easy!  I am a local entrepreneur who believes that math is easy and that all kids should feel the same.  I love boosting their grades and confidence by making them feel smarter again, and have been doing just that for over 17 years.

Having obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Master’s Degree in Business Administration, I have worked with local corporations such as Mountain Equipment Co-op, WorkSafeBC and Preventable, though my passion has always been in teaching and enabling.  I have combined my experience, education, and passion to have a tutoring center and recruit qualified like-minded team.

Being able to relate to students and understand where they come from, I have a natural ability to identify where their math struggles are stemming from.  I then take the lessons back to that point and build up their core competencies to ensure they gain a strong comprehension of the area and can confidently move forward.

Math has become a big monster to kids.  I want to make a revolution for them and have it become the opposite.  It is not a monster.  It is not difficult.  By breaking things down to the basics and providing real life examples of how we use math, students get excited and interested in learning more.  I’ve seen it happen countless times.  Once they understand it they feel smart, their confidence is boosted, and they are happier in their school life.

I want kids to have the opportunity to think about high paying careers that require STEM, like engineers, analysts, researchers, software developers, computer programmers.

My goal is to continue to grow AskMeMath – the learning centre that promotes a positive learning environment where students become confident and feel great about themselves and become independent of getting extra help for math.
